I clean my kitchen counters, floors, appliances, and sink on a regular basis, but there’s one kitchen chore that I always procrastinate doing – and that’s cleaning the kitchen cabinets. Over time, grease from cooking forms a grimy layer on top of your kitchen cabinets that can cause them to look dirty and dull. Grease can be somewhat difficult to strip from kitchen cabinets, but fortunately, there’s a simple hack that will make the job far easier and much more effective.

You know the old saying: “oil and water don’t mix.” However, do you want to know what does? Oil and oil! Cleaning your cabinets with either vegetable oil or mineral oil (coconut oil works too) will help the grease and grime on your cabinets to come right off. Simply add a few drops of the oil to a soft rag or microfiber cloth, and begin wiping down the outside of your cabinets.

It’s always a good idea to test the oil on a small, inconspicuous part of your cabinets first, just to ensure the oil doesn’t have a bad reaction with your cupboards. Thankfully, the risk of that is pretty low, and it’s a pretty tried and true method for removing that greasy film (and accompanying unpleasant odors) from your cabinets. Check out the video below to see this hack in action.
