The main ingredient that makes this cleaning hack work is distilled vinegar. Distilled vinegar is a natural disinfectant and will help dissolve the mineral residue from hard water stains. Use a plunger to remove as much of the water from the toilet bowl as you can. You want the toilet bowl to be as empty and dry as possible.
Next, you need to add some distilled vinegar into the toilet bowl. Dampen a couple of paper towels with vinegar and stick them around the rim behind the toilet bowl to hold them in place. Add the paper towels and vinegar, let it sit overnight, and in the morning remove the paper towels. Then, use a toilet brush to scrub the toilet bowl and flush.
