How To Make 2-Ingredient Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

source: Mr. Food

Sometimes, we need a little bite of something sweet to get us through the day. And that something sweet almost always tastes better when it’s covered in frosting! If your relationship with frosting revolves around the store-bought version, we’re about to change things. Because this recipe for homemade chocolate buttercream frosting from A Cup of Sprinkles only involves two ingredients.

To make chocolate buttercream frosting, you will need:

250g of dark chocolate

250g of unsalted butter

Directions:

Step 1: Put the chocolate and butter into a heatproof bowl.

Step 2: If using the microwave: microwave in 45-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate and butter have completely melted. Stir to combine. If using a bain-marie: set the bowl over a saucepan of boiling water and stir until the chocolate and butter have completely melted. Stir to combine.

Step 3: Set aside (at room temperature) to cool completely.

Step 4: Once the frosting has cooled and set, beat on medium speed using a hand or stand mixer. The frosting will begin to lighten in color and fluff up.

Step 5: Keep the frosting in the fridge until you’re ready to use it, beating again on low speed if the frosting isn’t soft enough to spread. Frost your cake or cupcakes, and dig in!
