How To Safely Take Off Gel And Shellac Polish At Home

Gel and shellac manicures became extremely popular a few years back, and it’s not surprising as to why. Gel and shellac manicures stay on for weeks without chipping (if they’re done properly), and they save you from having to touch up your nails every few days. The only downside of gel and shellac nail polish? It’s next to impossible to remove without going back to the salon.

Thankfully, there is a way you can remove gel and shellac polish at home without damaging your nails. Thanks to PopSugar Beauty for sharing this DIY solution!

To safely remove gel and shellac nail polish at home, you will need:

Cotton balls

Acetone nail polish remover

Nail groomer

Aluminum Foil

Directions:

Step 1: Pull apart one cotton ball into 10 small pieces. Soak each piece in the acetone, then place one piece on top of each nail.

Step 2: Wrap a piece of aluminum foil around each nail, then leave on for five to ten minutes.

Step 3: When the time is up, use the nail groomer to carefully peel away the polish moving away from the cuticle.

Step 4: Go over each nail one more time with the acetone.

And that’s all there is to it. Instead of picking and chipping your nail polish (thus ruining your nail beds), this method will remove your polish without damaging your nails. To see this DIY in action, watch the video below.
