If You Suffer From Plantar Fasciitis, The Simple Trick May Be Able To Help

source: UpToDate

Plantar fasciitis is a common foot condition that causes pain and discomfort across the heel. This condition is common in avid runners, people who are overweight, and people who are on their feet for extended periods of time without proper foot support. The pain is usually greatest upon waking up in the morning, and tends to gradually decrease as the day goes on.

There is no cure for plantar fasciitis, but this condition is not life-threatening, nor does it have the tendency to drastically alter the afflicted person’s day-to-day life. However, it can be extremely painful, and that’s where this pain relief method comes in.

According to UpToDate, this foot taping method can help relieve some of the pain and discomfort associated with plantar fasciitis. All you need is sports tape, which is available at most drug stores.

Step 1: Wrap a strip of tape around the foot, at the level of the ball of the foot.

Step 2: Wrap a second strip of tape around the heel, starting just below the pinky toe, around the sides of the heel, and back up to the first strip of tape.

Step 3: Wrap a third strip of tape around the heel, starting just below the pinky toe, like you did in Step 2. This time, circle the heel and wrap the tape in a criss-cross, so that it ends just below the big toe.

Step 4: Repeat Step 3. The tape does not need to align perfectly. The tape can stay in place for 1 week.
