Most of us can probably think of at least one renovation we’d love to do on our homes. However, renovations can be quite costly, and they’re not always in the budget. An especially expensive home improvement project is installing hardwood floors. Fortunately, there’s an alternative that looks extremely stylish, but costs a fraction of the price.

Jami of An Oregon Cottage explains that she and her husband began slowly ripping out the carpet throughout their home. She decided to use this decoupage torn-paper technique on the floors in her children’s rooms. This flooring method is so inexpensive, it cost only $65 total for a 12′ x 11′ room (about 50 cents per square foot).
