Have you seen the price of outdoor furniture these days?! My husband and I were at a few big box stores over the weekend, in search of a couple more seating options for our back deck. I just about fell over when seeing the numbers listed on some of the different price tags. Moral of the story? Patio furniture is unbelievably pricey these days.

Thankfully, you can combat those hefty retail prices with a little bit of DIY magic – even those of us (like myself) who don’t consider ourselves very creative or handy. Adam Holman of Cottage Life shows us how to make a beautiful and modern cinder block bench with some cement blocks, construction adhesive, and a few 4×4 pieces of wood.
See what I mean? You really don’t need to be handy to complete this project. In fact, you don’t even need to own a drill! Cement blocks and 4×4 pieces of wood are pretty inexpensive, and you should be able to find both (plus the adhesive that bonds the cement blocks together) at any home improvement store.

The finished product is an industrial-inspired, modern-looking bench that would look amazing in anyone’s outdoor space. Buy (or make) some flat cushions for the seat part, toss on a couple of fun throw cushions, and you’ll have a great, sturdy bench to relax on in your yard. Thanks for sharing Cottage Life – enjoy, everyone!
