If you have children, you may have experienced the unpleasantries of dealing with head lice. Almost all children will contract lice at some point, and those pesky, microscopic critters can be seemingly impossible to get rid of. Well, you know what they say — an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Mom Kim Wright shared a post on Facebook highlighting how to prevent your children from getting lice. With everyone’s kids heading back to school in less than one month, this is important to know! She shared that putting a few small drops of tea tree oil into your children’s shampoo is a great lice deterrent. You can also put a diluted tea tree oil spray into a bottle and spritz it on your children’s hair after their bath or on the way to school. As an added bonus, mosquitos also hate tea tree oil and will be sure to stay away.

School is about to start boys and girls… Let's do my Brady bunch a favor and put this in your kids shampoo 🙂 thanks!!

Tea tree oil is pretty handy! And if it works to prevent your child (and the rest of your family) from contracting lice, it’s definitely worth a shot. However, some children will contract lice no matter what you do to try and prevent it. Moral of the story? Lice sucks, so if you can prevent it, why not try? And remember, children are not the only ones who are susceptible to lice. Adults can get it, too! You might want to make a diluted tea tree oil spray for yourself, too. Just to be safe…!
