My husband and I have renovated quite a few homes, but I’m still waiting to find something truly cool when tearing down walls and ripping up old floors. Sure, we’ve found some old beer bottles and a few cool newspaper articles stuffed in between walls, but nothing to really write home about. However, for one family, it was the complete opposite!

Reddit user Yamaha234 posted that while tearing up old carpet in their home, his in-laws discovered a giant, hand-painted Monopoly board underneath. How much fun would it have been playing life-size Monopoly?

A commenter on the post added, “Showed this to my wife, and she reminded me that there’s a whole neighborhood near us, built in the mid-50s, that has game boards painted or tiled onto their basement floors. Seems to have been a selling point or something.” Who knew? See the photo below for another time a Reddit user found a painted Monopoly board under their carpet!

Although I’m sure the in-laws proceeded with their new flooring choice, I can only imagine their surprise finding a life-size Monopoly board under ordinary-looking carpet. Do you think they decided to play before covering it up? It definitely makes for a fun story!
