I wish I was one of those people who enjoyed winter, but I really don’t. The aspect I dislike the most about winter is winter driving. Between freezing vehicles, slippery roads, and whiteout conditions, winter driving is something I could seriously do without. Another pain about winter driving? Frozen windshields.

Thankfully, Southern Living has shared a genius hack for defrosting your car’s windshield in just one minute. They revealed that this hack came from Ken Weathers, a meteorologist for the WATE 6 news station in Tennessee. The best part about this method is that you probably already own all of the required ingredients.
All you have to do is mix two parts of rubbing alcohol with one part of water. Put the solution in a spray bottle, and generously spritz your car’s windshield. The second the solution comes in contact with the windshield, it melts the ice. No more tedious scraping and idling, waiting for your car to warm up. This spray is a lifesaver for the glass, but wipers frozen solid to the windshield are a separate headache. Instead of risking damage by prying them off, you can learn to protect your windshield wipers from ice before a freeze, saving the rubber blades from getting torn.
