12 Hacks For A Super Clean Home
When it comes to housekeeping, tasks like dusting, sweeping, and mopping are all pretty straightforward. But if you want to give your home the deepest clean possible, sometimes you need to think outside the box. The following hacks will help ensure your home is sparkling clean from top to bottom!
1. Pamper Your Porcelain
If you have a porcelain bathroom or kitchen sink, sprinkle the surface with a layer of baking soda. Pour some hydrogen peroxide over the baking soda, then scrub well before rinsing.
2. Clean Your Broom
If you use a broom to sweep your home on a regular basis, you should ensure that you’re cleaning and disinfecting it from time to time. Fill a mop bucket with hot water and dish soap and soak your broom in the solution for about 20 minutes. Then, let air dry.
3. Deodorize Furniture
If your fabric chairs and couches have smelled better, sprinkle them with a generous amount of baking soda. Let it sit for about an hour before vacuuming it up.
4. Sanitize Wood Cutting Boards
Because wood cutting boards are porous, they can easily absorb germs and bacteria. To disinfect a wood cutting board, sprinkle it with coarse salt and use half a lemon to scrub the salt around. Rinse afterwards.
5. Clean A Stainless Steel Sink
To clean a stainless steel sink, make a paste using water and baking soda and scrub the paste around the sink. Rinse, then dry throughly. Sprinkle a little flour in the sink, then use a clean, dry cloth to buff the surface. Vacuum up the flour when done.
6. Clean Up Leather Furniture
If your leather furniture is full of scuffs and scratches, apply a small amount of olive oil to a cloth, then rub it onto the scratch. After an hour, use a clean, dry cloth to wipe off the oil.
7. Fix Heat And Water Stains On Wood
You know those white stains that appear on wood from cups and dishes? Get rid of them by applying mayonnaise to the stain, then cover it with plastic wrap. Let it sit overnight, then wipe off in the morning.
8. Lintroll Lampshades
To get dust and hair off of fabric lampshades, swipe over them with a lint roller.
9. Unclog A Shower Head
If your shower head isn’t distributing water like it should be, fill a plastic bag with vinegar, then fasten the bag around the shower head using an elastic band. Let it sit overnight before removing the bag.
10. Drip-Dry Your Toilet Brush
To avoid dripping toilet water all over your bathroom floor, place the toilet brush in between the seat and the toilet bowl after you’ve cleaned it so that the brush can drip-dry.
11. Disinfect Your Toilet Brush
Speaking of toilet brushes, keep yours clean and fresh by putting some Pine-Sol in the toilet brush holder.
12. Clean Your Vent Covers
To thoroughly clean your vent covers, quickly wipe them down before putting them in the dishwasher. Wash on a warm water cycle (with no detergent) and then let them completely dry before putting them back.
13. Shine Up Baseboards
The best remedy for stained, scuffed baseboards? A Mr. Clean Magic Eraser!
14. Clean Your Microwave
To clean and disinfect your microwave, fill a small bowl with water and half a lemon. Microwave for about two to three minutes, then let the bowl sit for about five minutes. When the time’s up, remove the bowl and the steam will have loosened up dirt and food residue so that you can easily wipe it clean.
