They really just don’t make comfort food better than they do in the South. Between fried chicken, green bean casserole, cornbread, and mac n’ cheese, I don’t think anyone can argue with me. Another wonderful thing that comes out of the South? Their desserts. And the recipe we’re about to share with you is no exception.

If you’re a fan of nostalgia-laced Southern desserts, I have one more suggestion for you: grandma’s chocolate pie. It’s a rich, creamy classic that brings back wonderful memories for so many that love sweet pies.

Southern Living (the true expert in all things Southern) released a recipe for fudge pie that’s every bit as delicious as it sounds. This pie is sweet, decadent, and has the most perfect gooey consistency – just as a classic fudge pie should!

I definitely wouldn’t consider myself to be a pie-making expert, but it turns out that it doesn’t really matter. Simply grab a frozen piecrust shell to use as the base if you don’t feel like making your own – there’s absolutely no judgement here, folks.

This is an amazing recipe to whip up for a holiday dessert, potluck, hostess gift, or as a “just because” dessert. It’s quite simple to make, and it doesn’t require any fancy ingredients. Top with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, and I’m willing to bet you’ll believe you’ve died and gone to heaven.
