Some people are tougher on clothing than others. I take extremely good care of my clothing, and have designated clothes for each of my hobbies. My husband, on the other hand, is extremely hard on his clothing. He’ll wear “nice” clothes when doing work around the house, and I feel like I’m always trying to remove stubborn stains from his clothes as a result.

Thankfully, there’s an effective way to remove dirt, sweat, grime, etc. from clothing – and it’s called “stripping.” According to Carlie Helmer, “stripping” removes all of the built-up dirt, sweat, and grime from your laundry, making it feel lighter and smell new. Here are Carlie’s steps for stripping your laundry:

Step 1: Fill up the bathtub or sink with hot water. Add baking soda, powdered laundry detergent, and distilled vinegar. Carlie doesn’t measure out any of the products, she just eyeballs it.

Step 2: Next, toss in all of your items, ensuring that they are all fully soaked. Let them sit for at least three hours.

Step 3: When the time’s up, wring out your items and place them in the washing machine on a “rinse only” cycle. Then, simply toss them in the dryer as you normally would.

And that’s it! This is a super simple method for refreshing clothing and other items that are in need of a little love. Thanks for sharing this great information about “stripping,” Carlie!
