Call me a sucker for anything that creates a moment of nostalgia, especially food related. My grandma was an amazing baker, and I have very fond memories of being in the kitchen with her — I’d help out, but most of the time I’d just sit and talk. One of my favorite things that she made was chocolate pie, and many of you may have grown up with this recipe (or a similar one!). It’s not really a secret, since almost all chocolate pie recipes are the same, but I’m posting her recipe. For Grandma’s Chocolate Pie you will need:

1/4 cup of cornstarch
1/2 cup of cocoa
1 1/2 cups of sugar
The yolks of 3 eggs
2 cups of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Pinch of salt
Store-bought pie crust (using homemade pie crust if you want to make from scratch would work too!

Directions:
Take a pan and add all ingredients one by one.
Mix well, then cook (on medium heat) until somewhat thick. But it just takes 10 to 15 minutes so bear with it!
Once the mixture has thickened, pour it into the pie shell.
Refrigerate the pie until set and cold. Once cooled, you can garnish with whipped cream, berries, chocolate shavings — whatever strikes your fancy!
And that’s it! This easy recipe has a short ingredient list, tastes absolutely incredible, and will yield you the most delicious chocolate pie that you will want on permanent rotation in your home. Enjoy!
