I’ve never had much of a sweet tooth – I’ve always preferred salty, savory snacks like potato chips. However, there is one type of dessert that’s an exception to this rule. And that’s sweet, glorious cake. Whether it’s a rich carrot cake with cream cheese frosting or a light and airy cheesecake topped with raspberry drizzle, cake is simply delicious. And the cake recipe I’m about to share with you is no exception.

Southern Living shared a recipe for Milk Chocolate Bar Cake that is simply heaven-sent. “From potlucks to birthdays to Christmas Eve dinner, this cake has seen it all. My sister and I made one for my mom’s birthday this year, and my dad, who isn’t really much of a chocolate fan, requested the same cake for his birthday a few weeks later,” reveals article author Jenna Sims. “Anytime this dessert is on the cake plate, there’s always a discussion about who gets the last slice. Never a slice left standing.”

So, what makes this cake so good? Well, the recipe involves box cake mix (so simple) with an icing made from sugar, cream cheese, and pieces of chocolate bar (you can’t go wrong with Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars, and no – we aren’t getting paid to suggest this!). After each layer of cake is smothered in the icing, remaining chocolate bar flakes are sprinkled on the top and at the base of the cake.

This recipe looks super fancy, but only you will know that it was made from box cake mix and a few other simple ingredients. I can totally see this recipe becoming a classic and one of those go-to recipes you make for a birthday, holiday, potluck, etc. Click here for the original recipe from My Recipes. I guess I’ll be baking this weekend – and I’m not even mad about it!
