How To Insulate The House In A Pinch

Winter is here! Although the change of seasons may not affect you much if you live somewhere that’s warm all year round, those of us who experience cold, snowy winters are preparing to batten down the hatches. We’re also preparing for our heating bills to spike, and to fork over even more money for utility bills. If you want to better insulate your home and save a few bucks, you’re going to want to check out this tip.

Windows are generally the biggest culprits when it comes to heat loss in your home. Not only do cracks and gaps in and around windows suck out the warm air, but they also allow cold drafts to circulate throughout your home. To insulate your windows and keep your home warm, all you need is some bubble wrap and a spray bottle full of water.

Firstly, take some pieces of bubble wrap and cut them to the size of the windows you want to insulate. Once you have the pieces of bubble wrap ready, take your spray bottle and spritz the window glass with water. Then, all you have to do is press the bubble wrap against the glass. The water acts like a sort of adhesive, and is all the bubble wrap needs to stick.

To hide the bubble wrap (because it’s not the most sightly), simply lower your blinds. This will also add another level of insulation to your windows, and will keep your home toasty warm! When the winter is over, simply peel off the bubble wrap. This is such an easy, cheap way to insulate your windows, keep your house warm, and lower the cost of your heating bill.
