Learn How To Turn An Old Fridge Into An Awesome And Rustic Outdoor Cooler

source: Instructables
Before you kick that old fridge to the curb and replace it with the latest model, you might want to take a look at this project first. Matt Makes from Instructables turned an old, broken refrigerator into a rustic outdoor cooler perfect for storing drinks and food for outdoor entertaining.

Matt explained that this fun project only takes a day or two to complete, and doesn’t require any specialized tools or woodworking knowledge. Matt was able to use an old fridge he had lying around, but recommends hitting up Craigslist for a cheap one if you don’t have one already. You’d also be surprised at how many people dump their old refrigerators at the curb! So it may be worthwhile to take a Sunday drive and see if you can scoop one up.
The materials for this project include:
An old fridge
About four wooden pallets
Screws
Caulking
Liquid Nails
Casters
A few 2 x 4s
PVC/brass fittings
Rope and eye bolts
Black spray paint
He also used a few different tools, which you can read about here. If you don’t own the required tools, you’ll be able to rent them from your local home repair store (or borrow them from a friend or family member).

If you have a free day, this cooler would make for an awesome project. It’s relatively easy to make, and would be the perfect addition to your backyard. After all, who wouldn’t want to enjoy some cool beverages on the deck without making the trek into your home?! The cool thing about this project is that you can customize the cooler in any ways you want. Matt added a chalkboard to his so guests know what’s in the cooler, and also some rope lid supports to keep the top from falling too far back.
