12 Unexpected Yet Helpful Uses For Conditioner That You Probably Didn’t Know About
Pretty much all of us have at least one type of conditioner sitting in our showers. You likely only use conditioner to keep your hair hydrated, but did you know there are tons of other uses for conditioner, too? The next time your local drugstore is having a sale, you might want to stock up after reading these!
1. Shaving Cream
If you run out of soap, body wash, or shaving cream, just use conditioner! It will give you a nice lather just like shaving cream would, and it’ll also make your legs feel smooth and moisturized.
2. Shoe Polisher
Are your shoes looking a little dull? Just use a soft cloth to gradually rub some conditioner onto them. Like shoe polish, be sure to test the conditioner on an inconspicuous spot first.
3. Unsticks Zippers
Dealing with a jammed zipper? Use a Q-tip to apply a dab of conditioner to the zipper before taking the item in to a seamstress.
4. Slides Off Stuck Rings
There’s nothing quite like that feeling of panic you experience when a too-small ring won’t come off your finger. Just rub some conditioner around the ring and it should slide off more easily.
5. Fabric Softener
You don’t need an actual fabric softener to have super clean clothes. Just apply some conditioner to a small towel or cloth and throw it in the wash with your clothing.
6. Unsticks Doors
If you have a sliding door that keeps getting stuck, use a rag to apply some conditioner to the track. It will slide open much more easily.
7. Maintains Makeup Brushes
If you incorporate a bit of conditioner into your makeup brush cleaning routine, it will keep the hairs soft and strong. This tip also works with paintbrushes and paint rollers!
8. Cleans Houseplants
If you have houseplants (either fake or real!) with big leaves that are collecting dust, apply a tiny bit of conditioner to a clean cloth and use it to gently polish the leaves.
9. Cleans Stainless Steel
There’s no need for pricey stainless steel cleaners when you have conditioner! Just apply a small amount to a micofiber cloth and your appliances will be shining clean in no time.
10. Eliminates Squeaky Doors
If your door hinges are squeaky and creaky, use a cloth to rub a bit of conditioner around the hinges. Your doors will be silently swinging after that!
11. Removes Stubborn Makeup
If you’ve ever worn waterproof makeup, then you know how difficult it can be to remove. Just use a cotton pad with some conditioner on it to wipe around your eyes and it will come off with ease. Just be sure to steer clear of your actual eyes!
12. Removes Sticker Residue
How annoying is that stubborn, sticky residue that stickers leave behind? Dab some conditioner onto the residue, then use something with a slightly hard edge to scrape it off.
