6 Simple Ways To Clean Grimy, Streaky Windows
Do you constantly feel like you’re fighting a losing battle when it comes to getting clean windows? I often feel like no matter how often I clean the windows in our home, dust and streaks still show up all over them. Thankfully, there are some simple yet effective window-cleaning solutions out there that I’m going to share with you today!
1. Rubbing Alcohol
No need for Windex or fancy window cleaners when you have rubbing alcohol (or vodka!). Simply transfer some rubbing alcohol to a spray bottle, spritz your windows, and wipe in circular motions using a microfiber cloth.
2. Baking Soda
Now, let’s talk about those dirty, grimy window tracks that most of us avoid cleaning at all costs. Sprinkle some baking soda along the tracks, spray distilled vinegar onto the baking soda, and let it sit for about 15 minutes. When the time’s up, use a rag to wipe down the tracks and remove the solution.
When cleaning your window tracks, use an old toothbrush to really scrub in those nooks, crannies, and hard-to-reach places. It makes the job much easier!
4. Dawn & Distilled Vinegar
Make a solution of equal parts distilled vinegar and warm water. Add in a few drops of Dawn dish soap and a drop or two of lemon juice. This is a hardworking window-cleaning solution that works especially well on mildew-covered shower glass.
5. The Newspaper Hack
This might sound hard to believe, but cleaning your windows with newspaper is a cheap and effective way to get streak-free glass. Try it out – just trust me!
6. Hard-To-Reach Hack
Need to clean some really high windows? Secure some paper towel over the head of a Swiffer, and spray the paper towels with window-cleaning solution. You’ll be able to easily clean those hard-to-reach windows!
Now that you know these simple yet effective DIY solutions, your windows are going to be streak-free and shiny clean!
