As soon as December 1st rolls around, I’m in the full swing of holiday baking. I may not be an expert baker, but the finished product is always good enough! I love baking Christmas cookies, squares, and anything that contains chocolate. If you, too, believe that every good treat needs to be coated in chocolatey goodness, behold the recipe I’m sharing with you today.

Food blog Barefeet in the Kitchen shared a recipe for homemade almond joys candy that’s making my mouth water just from reading the title. This treat is creamy, crunchy, and coated in rich chocolate – what could be better? One of the main ingredients is shredded coconut, but if you’re not much of a coconut fan, you could always swap it out for whole oats, dried fruit, or crushed nuts. Prefer dark chocolate to milk chocolate? Go ahead and use that instead!

The best part about this recipe is that there’s no actual baking required. To melt the chocolate required for the base and top drizzle, you can simply use a microwave. These yummy treats chill in the fridge until the chocolate hardens and they’re ready to eat. So, they can be whipped up extremely fast, which is always a plus! I’m not much of a patient baker myself.
