When you think about being a kid, you can probably name a few specific foods that you were always fed while growing up. In addition to making a mean pecan pie, my grandma used to make us kids something extremely similar to the cheater recipe we’re about to share with you.

A vintage-looking photo posted by MyFridgeFood explains how to make a Hawaiian-inspired treat that the whole family is sure to love. All you have to do is pour out the liquid from a can of Dole sliced pineapple. Replace the liquid with a jello mixture. Chill the can until set, then run a little bit of hot water over the sides of the can so it’s more easily loosened. Cut the bottom of the can, then push out the mold. Cut between pineapple slices and serve.

How clever is this old-school dessert recipe? This would be such a quick, easy, and refreshing treat to serve up on a hot summer day. You know that all the kids will love it, but you can bet your bottom dollar the parents will love it, too!
