As a mom to two kids and a dog, I’m constantly looking for storage space in my home. Every single closet in our home is packed to the brim, and I always feel like a bigger house is the only solution. Thankfully, there are a number of unexpected, somewhat hidden storage spaces throughout the house that everyone should be aware of.

Clean My Space released a video highlighting five areas of the home that can be easily utilized for storage, but that most people don’t even think to use. Let’s take a look!

1. Vertical Storage

Pantry storage is always a battle in our house. But remember, there’s likely a big amount of space above your row of cans and other dry goods that isn’t being utilized. Use low wire shelving inserts to maximize your storage space on each shelf.

2. Behind The Door

Don’t forget about that empty space behind the door just waiting to be used! Use an over-the-door hook to hang a shoe organizer from. While storing shoes here is the obvious answer, there are lots of things you can store in these hanging organizing units.

3. Under The Bed

When we say “under-the-bed storage,” we don’t mean to just shove everything under there all willy nilly. Use flat, rolling bins to store off-season clothing under the bed. You won’t need those big sweaters and coats in the summer, so free up some closet space by storing them out of the way.

4. Adhesive Hooks

Installing hooks is always an issue for renters. You need to hang coats and other items, but don’t want to put a bunch of nail holes in the wall. Use adhesive, removable hooks to hang items around the house or apartment that you’ll be able to easily take down when the time comes.

5. Corner Storage

People rarely think to utilize the intersection space of two walls. However, there are lots of great corner storage solutions out there! There are corner organizing units that can be used for shower storage, corner shelves, and even corner desks for small spaces.

Now that you know these great storage solutions, hopefully you’ll be able to maximize the space in your own home. Check out Clean My Space’s video below to see these hacks in action.
