5 Quick And Delicious Desserts You Can Make In A Mug

I’m gonna be blunt…I love dessert. I mean, I REALLY love dessert. I’m the kind of person that looks at the dessert menu before I look at the entrees. But when it comes to making dessert…that’s not my strong suit. With baking, there’s measuring, timing (and remembering to set the timer), and a constant fear I’m going to accidentally turn my cookies into bricks. I usually get stressed halfway through the reading the recipes.

That’s why mug desserts are a total game changer for me. You don’t have to be a Pinterest baker to do these. You don’t even need an oven! All you really need is a mug, a handful of pantry staples, and a microwave. You make these when you are craving something sweet at 9:45 pm and have zero interest in pulling out the stand mixer.

The best part about these recipes is their low Commitment. You have no baking sheets to wash, no mixing bowls piling up in your sink, just a mug, spoon, and microwave. To be accurate, that’s MY kind of dessert. They are also totally perfect if you are cooking for one (or if you do not trust yourself around an entire cake/batch of brownies). (Relatable.)

So this is great if you have a sweet tooth but no time to bake (or if you simply want to feel like a microwave magician)— here are five super easy and totally tasty mug desserts that are ready in minutes.

1. Eggless Blueberry Microwave Mug Cake

This is perfect if you want something fruity but still cake-y and rich—plus, it’s eggless! So instead of feeling like you’ll probably regret what you’re eating, you feel a little lighter, and you won’t feel bad cracking open an entire egg for a single dessert, because, let’s be honest, that’s excessive. It’s essentially a warm buttery muffin in a mug, and you didn’t even turn on the oven.

2. Keto Chocolate Mug Cake

Okay, I realize that the keto craze isn’t going anywhere, and if you’re trying to navigate low-carb but need dessert (because, duh), this is the mug dessert for you! It’s seriously chocolatey, and it certainly feels satisfying (no feelings of completely abandoning your food plan), so you still kind of get the sweet fix, minus all that sugar.

3. S’mores Mug Cake

This “sells itself.” Like… s’mores?! In a mug? Yes. It’s gooey, chocolatey, with bits of graham cracker and melty marshmallows that somehow give you chills of summer bonfires. Except you have no smoke in your eyes because you’re probably in your pajamas. Are you kidding? That’s a total win!

4. 2-Minute French Toast In A Cup

source: Pretty Prudent

If you are into breakfast-for-dessert, or frankly, even if breakfast is your dessert (no judgments here!), this is insane. It tastes exactly like the real thing, just without pulling a pan and flipping. Simply throw the ingredients into a mug, microwave for a couple minutes, and suddenly, it’s Sunday brunch in your hands.

5. Oatmeal Cherry Cobbler In A Mug

source: My Food Diary

This is for the pie lovers. It’s warm and hearty and tastes like way more effort has gone into this than it actually is. The sweet soft cherries, the chewy oats, and the sweet, cobbler-like essence make it taste like it takes way more than five minutes to whip up. It’s like the dessert equivalent of curling up to a blanket and a good book.

The cool thing about these mug desserts is that they are totally customizable. Want to swap blueberries for raspberries? Go for it. Prefer dark chocolate over milk chocolate chips? Nobody is stopping you! You can play around with them, depending on what you have in your pantry and what mood you are in. And the fact that these are single serving, you’re not pressured, if one wasn’t blow-your-mind incredible, you don’t have a whole batch.

So next time the dessert craving hits, and you’re tempted to dig into that bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips again (we’ve all been there), try one of these instead. They are quick (obviously), and they make you feel a little more like you have your life together than you actually do. Which is all we could ever ask for when it comes to dessert.
