You Can Stay In The Pinecone Treehouse High In The Branches Of The Forest

From houseboats to secluded log cabins, I’ve seen some pretty cool Airbnbs in places all over the world. However, the Airbnb we’re about to show you completely blows all the other ones out of the water. Why? Well, because it’s actually a treehouse suspended high up in the branches in the middle of a forest.

“The Pinecone Treehouse” is a pinecone-shaped structure situated in the branches of the magical Red Wood forests of Bonny Doon, California. The treehouse sits 35′ above ground on the uphill side, and almost 60′ from the ground on the downhill side. It also offers 360 degree views of the forest’s upper canopy.

You might be thinking, how does someone get up there? Well, the structure is accessed via a 30′ – 60 degree alternating step access ladder. Guests are encouraged to use the harness and ascension safety system, but it’s ultimately up to their discretion. The pinecone treehouse itself is very simple. Once you’ve ascended the stairs, you’ll reach a glassed-in room with a queen-sized bed.

Thankfully, there is another structure located at ground-level which features a hot shower, composting toilet, and sink. The view from this structure is also beautiful, but the Airbnb hosts warn that if you’re someone who has to frequent the bathroom a lot (especially during the night), this may not be the rental for you. Although extra blankets are provided, the hosts also recommend packing warm clothes like long johns, wool socks, and hats, as the treehouse can get quite chilly at night.

Although this Airbnb is definitely not for the faint of heart, it offers the unique experience to be completely immersed in nature’s beauty. “Our greatest hope is for guests of the Pinecone Treehouse to leave refreshed, inspired, reconnected, and recommitted to themselves, their dreams, and to this beautiful home that we call Mother Earth,” explained the Airbnb hosts.
