With all the fashion trends that come and go, it can be difficult to know what’s in style and what isn’t. For some people, choosing an outfit each day is a challenging and overwhelming task. However, it doesn’t have to be that way! Here are 12 great fashion tips that will help you to dress amazingly – no matter the current fashion fads.

1. Office-Appropriate Necklines

If you work in an office or corporate environment, it’s not professional to show a whole bunch of skin. Aim for tops that don’t dip deeper than four inches from your collarbone.

2. Don’t Over Accessorize

Jewelry is fun, and it can be all too easy to pile it on. However, over accessorizing will detract from your outfit itself and make it look cluttered. When accessorizing, you might want to choose dangly earrings and a ring as opposed to earrings, rings, a necklace, and bracelets.

3. Don’t Focus On Matching

It’s widely believed that our shoes should match our purse, and that everything in our outfits have to match. However, this is a huge misconception! Choose pieces that complement one another but don’t necessarily match perfectly.

4. Invest In The Basics

Every woman’s wardrobe should include a pair of dark-wash jeans, a white blouse, a fitted black, navy, or grey blazer, and a little black dress. These classic pieces are extremely versatile, and you’ll get the biggest bang for your buck from them.

5. Choose A Hemline

You definitely don’t have to dress conservatively at all times. However, a dress that’s super short with a plunging neckline may not always be an appropriate choice. As a general rule, shorter hemlines should have more conservative necklines, and lower necklines should have longer hemlines.

6. No More Showing Tummy

As a teenager or young woman in her 20s, showing a bit of stomach is the norm. However, when you’re past this age, it’s time to cover up that tummy. If you have a shirt or sweater that’s a little short, wear a longer tank top or t-shirt underneath.

7. Remove Tags

When you’re about to wear a new clothing item, you probably remove the tags right away. But what about those cloth tags that are stitched to the outside of some garments? The rule is that if you can see a tag, it should be removed.

8. Don’t Be Afraid To Mix Patterns

I remember always thinking that it was a fashion crime to mix patterns. However, this couldn’t be farther from the truth! When mixing patterns, choose a more subtle print to pair with a bolder one. This will prevent your outfit from looking too over the top.

9. Do Away With Distressed Denim

Just like crop tops and miniskirts, let’s leave ripped and distressed denim for the younger folks, shall we?

10. The Importance Of Bra Fitting

As women, a bra is something we wear each and every day. Because of this, you need to have some good-quality bras that actually fit you properly. Every time you go to buy a new bra, ask to be fitted for one. Breasts change shape and size over time, so your bra size will likely change, too.

11. Pay For Tailoring

Nothing makes an outfit look sloppy like an improperly fitting garment. If a piece of clothing is slightly too big or too small, pay to have it tailored. It will make all the difference in your outfit.

12. Save Workout Clothing For The Gym

Although workout clothing is stretchy and comfortable, you’ll begin to look frumpy if you start wearing it at all times. For this reason and this reason alone, save your workout clothes for working out!
