Here Are 8 Foods Being Linked To Infectious Outbreaks Right Now

It seems like a specific type of food is being recalled from grocery stores every second day. Although health and safety standards are the most strict they’ve ever been, that doesn’t always stop an infectious outbreak from happening. At the moment, there are a number of foods being linked to outbreaks. Read ahead to know which foods you should stay away from right now to avoid getting sick.
1. Goldfish Crackers
You may have heard that Pepperidge Farm is recalling four different types of Goldfish Crackers as a result of a potential salmonella outbreak. Flavor Blasted Extra Cheddar, Flavor Blasted Sour Cream & Onion, Whole Grain Extra Cheddar, and Goldfish Mix Extra Cheddar + Pretzel flavors are all part of this recall. 2. Pre-Cut Melon

It might be best to avoid pre-cut melon or fruit salads containing it. The fruit has been linked to a possible salmonella outbreak, with about 60 reported cases in five Midwestern states. The fruit was sold in a number of different grocery stores, so it’s best to just stay away altogether.
3. Salads From McDonald’s

The food chain has stopped selling salads in 14 different states as a result of a cyclospora outbreak. Cyclospora is a parasite that causes symptoms extremely similar to what you might experience during the flu. Although McDonald’s is working towards getting the outbreak under control, waiting a couple more months to enjoy a McDonald’s salad isn’t a bad idea.
4. Kellogg’s Honey Smacks Cereal

If you have a box of Kellogg’s Honey Smacks Cereal in your pantry, you should toss it. The cereal has been linked to a salmonella outbreak affecting 73 people in 31 different states. Yikes!
5. Pasta Salad From Hy-Vee

Hy-Vee, a chain of grocery stores across the Midwest, has recalled their pasta salad due to a potential salmonella outbreak. Click here to learn more about the recall dates and the states where the pasta salad was sold.
6. Swiss Rolls

Flowers Foods recently issued a recall of of Swiss Rolls (which fall under a large umbrella of other names) as a result of a possible salmonella outbreak. The company also recalled one of their bread products, Captain John Derst’s Old Fashioned Bread.
7. Raw Turkey
