How One Couple Transformed An Old Barn Into Their Dream Home

Who knew living in a barn could be so chic?! Well, Chip and Joanna Gaines sure did! The stars of the hit HGTV show Fixer Upper paired up with Todd and Lexia Meek to transform a one-time horse barn on 16 acres of rolling hills in Waco, Texas into one of the most stunning country homes I’ve ever laid eyes on. Let’s take a look, shall we?

Todd and Lexia were on the hunt for a country property where they could raise their three kids, and were not initially sold on the dilapidated barn Chip and Joanna showed them. Once they explained their vision, Todd and Lexia had a change of heart and decided to put their trust in Chip and Joanna’s big plans.

The structure that once housed horses and later machinery is now completely redone with a bright and airy open floor plan. The kitchen features a beautiful island and patterned backsplash.

The adjoining dining area is the perfect place for friends and family to gather for meals.

While the kitchen and above dining area are located on the second floor, there’s also a large second dining area featuring a custom-made, 17-foot dining table on the first floor. Genius!

The first of two living spaces is on the second floor, open to the smaller dining area and kitchen.

There’s also an equally beautiful main-floor den.

They even managed to sneak in an office space on the main floor, next to the staircase.

The kids’ bedrooms are stylish and functional.

I don’t know about you, but I think this barn-turned-dream-home was a total grand slam! It’s hard to imagine this beautiful home was at one point a structure designed to house livestock. This total transformation goes to show that a little vision can go a long way. The Meek family now has a wonderful home they can enjoy for years to come!
