Are you short on time but want a tasty, protein-filled dish? Believe it or not, the solution is hidden in your good ol’ microwave! You can actually prepare many types of eggs with a push of a button. Learn from my experience. These tips never left me disappointed.

Microwave Scrambled Eggs

Scrambled eggs, a breakfast regular (at least for my family, we’re addicted to it!) and the microwave could potentially transform this dish into a sleepy-hit morning indulgence. Start by cracking 2 eggs into a microwave safe bowl. Beat until the yolks and whites are well incorporated. Add a pinch of salt and a dash of pepper and, if you like your eggs creamier, a splash of milk.

Put the bowl in the microwave and cook for 1-2 minutes, stopping every 30 seconds to give the eggs a good stir. That way they don’t turn into a rubbery mess. When cooked through, voilà! And you’ve got a plate of creamy scrambled eggs. So yummy and easy!

Poached Eggs in the Microwave

The microwave is just perfect for poaching eggs, a concept that may sound a bit fancy, but trust me, it’s not. Half-fill a microwave-safe mug with water, and add a pinch of salt. Gently lay an egg into the water without busting the yolk. Cover with a microwave-safe plate as an improvised lid.

Microwave the mug for 1 minute, checking every 10 seconds until the whites are firm but the yolk is still runny. You might need a little more or less time, depending on your microwave. Carefully lift out the mug and voilà, a beautiful poached egg ready to be put on salad, toast or eaten as is.

Hard-boiled Eggs in the Microwave

Believe it or not, you can even make fully hard-boiled eggs in the microwave. Drop one or two eggs in a microwave-safe bowl and cover them with water. Be sure to salt them to prevent the eggs from cracking. Microwave on high for 6–8 minutes, depending on your microwave wattage.

When done, cool the eggs for a minute, then place them in a bowl of ice water. This helps in easy peeling. Peel your almost-miraculously easy to peel hard-cooked eggs. Pro tip: A light dusting of salt and pepper, or a scoop of mayo can transform this snack into something that is not that just a snack. You’ll thank me.

Tips for Microwaving Eggs

Try Timing: Different microwaves have different power levels, so don’t be afraid to experiment with cook time to get the eggs you think are perfect.

Go Wild with Add-Ins: Add-ins like cheese, herbs, and vegetables can enhance the overall flavor of your eggs.

Have the Proper Vessels: Ensure you use space-saving, microwave-safe bowls or mugs to save the kitchen tragedy.

Watch the Cleanup: Eggs can make a bit of a mess in the microwave. Keep your dishes covered to avoid splashing and spills. Clean up before it dries and sticks.

Whether you’re in a rush or just feeling lazy one morning, let the microwave do its thing and make you a quick egg dish.
