Important Reasons To Not Skip Out On Showering
We all know and understand the importance of personal hygiene. Most kids hate bathing, and will go to great lengths to avoid it. However, as an adult, I love nothing more than a long, hot shower. Although I think it’s safe to say that there are times when we’re all far too exhausted to bother with showering, so we just hit the hay and forget about it. However, if you skip showering, you could be putting your body at risk of all sorts of unpleasant things.
First of all, let’s talk about odor. Even when you’re not doing strenuous exercise, you’re prone to sweating throughout the day. Mix sweat with atmospheric smells (like when you visit a breakfast restaurant and leave smelling like the fryer), and you’re not going to be smelling all that great. The only thing that will rid you of these unpleasant odors? A warm shower with plenty of soap.
Next, let’s talk about bacteria. Your skin is host to all sorts of bacteria, some of which are even healthy types. However, your skin can also be host to viruses, damaging microbes, and even staph infections. And although no one likes to talk about this, genital bacteria is a very real thing. So to avoid all of these unpleasantries, don’t skip the shower!
Lastly, let’s talk about the state of your skin. Although running your face under scalding water is a sure way to irritate it, not showering can do worse things. Throughout the day, your skin is exposed to oil, dead skin cells, and pollution. When these things build up, they cause acne and other skin conditions. In order to keep your skin looking fresh and healthy, shower and wash your face with a mild cleanser. And don’t forget to moisturize afterwards!
We’ve all experienced long days and exhausted mornings when showering is the last thing on our minds. But even if you don’t think you need a shower, chances are that you do! Don’t skip on showering — your body will thank you!
