What Your Chin Hair Could Actually Indicate
If you’re a woman who has been sprouting pesky chin hairs as of late, you’re certainly not alone. Although these chin hairs are definitely annoying, they shouldn’t be ignored. Female chin hairs can point to a number of health issues, some of them quite serious. Here are four reasons why as a woman, you should never ignore chin hairs.
Certain medications including the birth control pill can produce chin hair in women. Steroid medications can also produce similar results. If you are on either of these types of medications, talk to your doctor if you have concerns.
2. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) causes an imbalance of sex-related hormones including estrogen and progesterone. This can cause an excess of facial hair. Although there is no cure for PCOS, there are many dietary and lifestyle changes you can make to help minimize symptoms.
3. Hormonal Changes
When the body experiences shifts in hormone production (such as with puberty, pregnancy, and menopause), some women may experience facial hair growth. Although these symptoms usually go away when the body regulates itself, your doctor may be able to provide some solutions in the interim.
If you’re a woman who isn’t experiencing hormonal changes or other medical conditions, some facial hair growth can simply be attributed to genetics. If your chin or other facial hair is due to genetics, you could consider exploring methods like laser hair removal.
