The Easy Trick To Keep Your Strawberries Fresh For Way Longer

Strawberries are by far one of my favorite fruits. They’re sweet, delicious, and can be used in a ton of different recipes. However, there is one big downside to strawberries. They tend to go bad extremely quickly, as you likely already know. It’s like one day you bring them home from the grocery store, and the next day they’re soggy, rotten, and sprinkled in mold.

Thankfully, there’s an extremely simple hack that can preserve your strawberries for much longer. And all this hack requires is a few simple ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen. First, add your strawberries into a bowl. Next, pour a solution of one part vinegar to five parts water over the strawberries.

After a few minutes, remove the berries from the solution. The vinegar will remove bacteria and mold spores from the strawberries, which is why they tend to go rotten so quickly. Next, dry the strawberries as thoroughly as you can with either a tea towel or paper towel. The drier you can get them, the less likely they will be to form mold.

Instead of putting your strawberries back in a container, lay them out separately on a plate or in a shallow bowl. When they’re not crowded together, they’ll also be less likely to form mold. If you practice this simple trick every time you bring strawberries home, they’ll last you long enough to actually eat them!
