St. John Ambulance Shows How To Save A Choking Baby In Seconds
Being faced with a choking baby is something that no one wants to experience in their lifetime. However, this scary situation is a reality, and we need to be prepared in the event that it happens. Although all parents and caregivers should take a baby and child first aid course, the video below summarizes how to help a choking baby in just a few simple steps.
The video explains that if your baby is choking, you should first lie them facedown on your lap. Then, give them up to five somewhat forceful smacks on their back. If that doesn’t work, turn the baby over and give them up to five chest thrusts or until the airway is clear. Of course, if no method seems to be working, you should call an ambulance right away.
Prevention is half the battle. Remember to keep small objects and toys away from babies, and to feed them age-appropriate food that doesn’t pose a choking hazard. Don’t forget to show this important video to all of your friends and family members who are parents or caregivers.
