How To Get Rid Of Mosquitoes (And Other Pests) Using Coffee Grounds

sources: Instructables / Town of Kindersley

With summer almost at a close, the mosquitoes are still out and about in full force. Depending on where you live, these annoying insects can plague you and your yard all year round. But thankfully, we’ve discovered an easy and natural way to get rid of mosquitoes (and other pests) for good. Thanks to Tips & Crafts for sharing this helpful information!

To deter and eliminate mosquitoes, you will need:

Coffee grounds

Aluminum foil

Glass jar

Matches or lighter

Directions:

Step 1: Recover the coffee grounds from your morning brew and spread them on a flat surface so that they dry faster.

Step 2: Once dry, put the grounds in an airtight glass jar.

Step 3: When you’re ready to spend time outside, take small portions of the coffee grounds and place them on pieces of aluminum foil. Place the pieces of foil around your garden, porch, or yard.

Step 4: Using matches or a lighter, carefully burn the coffee grounds. When they burn, a smoke will emerge. Mosquitoes absolutely hate this pungent smoke.

And that’s it! Citronella candles and bug spray only work to an extent, but it turns out that mosquitoes will stay far away from the smell of burning coffee grounds. I’ll definitely be trying this out before my next outdoor dinner party.
